Where's Waldo? Feline Version

The other day I observed this scene in my back yard. A stray cat was sitting on my fencepost, howling pitifully.

I peeked out the window. Was she hurt? lost? afraid to jump down? (Note the expression!)

As I looked more closely I saw the full scene. She wasn't alone. Do you see another cat?

Look to the right, behind the garage.

Here he is!

I really couldn't be sure if these two cats were angry with each other
in love or just talking. But they carried on for quite some time, meowling back and forth. I would have loved a kitty cat translator.

What about you. Do your cats carry on like this? What do you think they're saying?

  1. Our two are usually saying "Feed me tuna!" Or "Play with me - NOW!!!"

  4. How sweet if they're buddies! Maybe he was trying to pick her up... Wanna go back to my place for a little catnip?

  9. I LOVE kitty cats! Mom won't let me have one, though. HRMPH! Silly human thinks she's in charge around here!

Thanks for the comment on my blog! Saw that you write for Guideposts & other Christian pubs. My adoption last fall was truly orchestrated from above. Mom & I are sure of it!

  10. Do you have alot of stray cats in the area! My Mothers neighborhood is full of them. She feed one now she feeds at least 5. We are working on having them spayed ,it seems like people are always dropping off their cats in her neighborhood. Some people kill me!

  11. Hey, found your blog on the bloghop. When my cats make those noises at each other, it's usually because some kind of territory is in dispute. Which may mean that they've annexed your backyard, unbeknownst to you. :)

  15. Carnivores, excellent point, that makes sense. Well I can put of with the meowling I guess if these kitties have found a bit of refuge in my little yard, just as long as they don't bring too many friends.
