Monday Pet Roundup

Hi and welcome to Monday Pet Roundup! And Happy Labor Day. Kelly just came out of the lake and is shaking off. Look out, don't get wet!

* Looking for an activity to share with your dog? Try Happy Hour! The Washington Post reports on such an event held last Wednesday at the Park Hayatt Hotel. Ticket price of $12 included two drinks and free dog cookies. (Proceeds benefited the Washington Animal Rescue League.)

* How about dogs on the subway? Not in NYC, but the Boston Herald discovers that yes, dogs are allowed on the T!

* Dogs or jail? Which would you choose? According to USA Today, a Kentucky woman says dogs. Because she owns 6 dogs, 4 more than town regulations allow, she can face jail time. Do you agree, or disagree?

* Sorry to end with this but I just have to say it. I saw the video of the woman tossing the cat in the trash can. I can't forget about puppy mills, hoarding and the Vick dogs. I just read a headline about setting dogs on tame, chained bears. I can't open the link. I can't read the story. My heart is sick. I just can't take it any more.

* Okay, I can't end the post there. Here, via Cute Overload, is a little sleepy pup I hope will bring a smile to your face.

A pet limit law in Kentucky? How on earth do breeders get around it? That's just wrong.

3 doxies - I saw the puppy throwing video too. So terrible - I could only get through a few seconds and had to shut it off.

Thanks for the sleeping pup video, Peggy - I needed that!

Hello Peggy...I think your pet roundup idea is very creative and a great way to discuss various pet related subjects in one place. Love it!
I did not see the video about the cat who was tossed in a trash can but I did view the video about the girl who threw puppies into the river and that was found on the PETA website. For those who are wondering, the puppy throwing gal was located and she has been prosecuted.
I did not know that dogs were allowed on the T but then again I haven't taken our coonhound to Boston (or any other big city) yet but I think she would be open for a ride on one and I'm sure she would enjoy it!
Thanks for all of these interesting pieces of information!

That is really too bad about that woman in Ky. and the six dogs. What happens to the dogs if she goes to jail. She would be better off moving somewhere where she can have the dogs.
Great video and I like all the different animal subjects. I did see the video about the bear and the dogs. That was horrible. It happened in the state where I live.
Hope you have a good rest of the day.

Too many terrible stories are out there. I try and think about all the good things (many left unreported) that people do for animals, instead.
