Wednesday Pet Roundup

Hi and welcome to Wednesday Pet Roundup!

* If you have to board your pet while on vacation, you'd love the Best Friends Pet Resort near Orlando, Florida. The Boston Herald.com reports on the amenities, including tuck in service, ice cream, and a bedtime story. In deluxe suites, flat screen TVs play movies, such as Lady and the Tramp.

* And, what about TV watching? Pscychology Today discusses: Do dogs understand what they see on TV? For Kelly, the answer seems to be no. She rarely gives any attention to the pictures or sounds, even a dog barking. What about your dog?

* I'll leave you with this adorable video. At first it looks like a boy playing with an otter. But just wait! About halfway through, the boy abruptly changes direction, and then it becomes quite clear just who is chasing who!

Pip really doesn't show much interest in the tv - even when there are dogs barking, etc. The cats on the other hand, sometimes do seem to be watching.

My boys don't show any interest in the TV either, except when there is a dog show on!

Eva is only interested in her own videos. LOL.

The video is so funny!

Holly doesn't seem interested in the TV at all. Sounds coming from it don't bother her or interest her at all....she goes and plays with a toy! Lots of love, Debbie & Holly

Interesting. I wondered why my dogs were not interested in cartoons, but they like watching real dogs on the screen. I thought they had just outgrown cartoons. :-)

Thanks for sharing the TV link. Good reading!

I'm sure that dogs can see the television. One dog that I had saw a baby rino on the National Geographic Channel. She got all excited, putting her paws up on the tv stand and whining. She even ran around into the next room "behind" the tv trying to find that baby rino. It was adorable!

Shiva will sometimes look interested in the television, but it's pretty rare. She has to be facing it, for one thing, and there needs to be some sort of animal on the screen that catches her interest.

I wish I had video of the time she became entranced with a pedigree commercial and actually tried to bite at the bone a little dog was chewing on screen. It hasn't happened since, sadly.

Hi Peggy, Hope you're having a great week. Gracie doesn't pay attention to the tv, except every once in a while she'll hear a dog on there and run to the window to bark.
This video was the cutest thing I've seen in a long time!! Thanks for sharing that.
Oh, I don't know if I told you or not.. but the doggie canteen that I got (you featured it on one of your posts) I love it! I had a girl stop at the festival I was at the other day with Gracie, and she asked me where I got it. It's pretty cool!! Thank you, thank you!!

Bella is pretty uninterested in the TV, though I've had dogs in the pat who were more into it.

OMD, that otter! So cute! I'm melting from the cuteness. *sigh* I love otters.

My cats respond to two things on the TV: other cats and babies crying. The two sound similar, and the cats always stop what they are doing when either of these sounds come on.

My dog Cali is an avid television watcher! She knows all of the commercials that have dogs (even cartoon dogs) and is always ready to bark at them.

There is no watching of dog movies in our house :( She gets way too excited! Maybe we shouldn't have laughed at it when she was a puppy? It's been 12 years now :)
