A Parade of Dogs

Fit Dog Friday, hosted by Peggy's Pet Place, Slimdoggy, and To Dog with Love, is a weekly place to blog about ways you and your dog get fit and active together!

Here's a different way to get active with your dog--join a parade!

Two dogs enjoy "canoeing" on the Boy Scout float.

I saw these dogs in the Fourth of July parade in Clifton Park, NY yesterday. The parade route gave the dogs (those who weren't riding!) a nice workout. I worried about the heat and the hot pavement on their paws, but at the end of the route, the Mid-Hudson Tri-County Animal Rescue Services provided a dog cooling station with bowls and water available as well.
A chocolate lab joins the Scouts.

Patriotic girl and her pooch.

I think they were just walking along, but hey, it's a dog!

Don't forget to hop over to You Did What With Your Wiener today for the first Keeping up with K9 Kamp mini challenge! Chester and Gretel have fun in store for us.

Nice pictures there of the dogs in parades. The weather has turned hot here and keeping us all active has to be done very early now, alarm is set, aka woofing Twinkle who makes sure we're all up and out by 6am !

  2. Nice! I think if a dog walks a lot on the hot pavement the paws adjust. Mom was a waitress when she was in school and she can still handle steaming hot silverware fresh out of the dishwasher as her hands got used to it...probably burned the nerves to death! Better head over to YDWWYW now.

  3. Love seeing the dogs in the parade. They can be patriotic too I guess...they sure love independence!

DAWGS in a PAWrade are the BESTEST!!!

  5. I've never been in a parade with Chester and Gretel. It does seem like a fun and "sneaky" way to get some exercise. Maybe I should join a pet costume parade sometime.

  6. Very informative and interesting post.It is really a big help. Thank you so much for sharing it with us.
