Wednesday Pet Roundup- July 24, 2013

Hi and welcome to Wednesday Pet Roundup!
Here's Kelly, she enjoys a dip in the lake to cool off.

* Pets and Heat Wave Don't Mix. One of my concerns is seeing people walk their dogs on the hot pavement. If it's too hot for your bare feet, it's too hot for theirs.

*From Something Wagging This Way Comes, 10 Funniest Reasons not to let your dog go along in your car this summer. Leave your dogs at home, they'll be more comfortable. (Picture borrowed from Pamela!)

*  Introducing the world's first hypoallergenic cat. abc news asks if it's for real, or hype?

* While celebrating the birth in the royal family, mother nature network takes a look at corgis, spaniels and other royal pets.

What about you--What do you do when you see a dog left in a hot car? Would you like to have a hypoallergenic cat or dog?

  1. Kelly is so beautiful! Just love seeing her face! I've been lucky to not see too many dogs in vehicles that didn't have the windows left down. Scary thought, right? Leave the windows all the way down? But I guess it's better than being left up. It' all scares me but I try to hang around until the owners come out to make sure the dog is ok and doesn't jump out it! Eeek! People imo should just leave their pets at home if they'll be stopping anywhere. Just creeps me out.

  2. Kelly has the sweetest face ever. Those little fluffy hairs on her nose kill me every time! I have actually never seen a dog left in a hot car. Luckily we are having such a cool summer here by the coast! But if I did see one when it was hot, I'd start by going in to whatever store it was in front of and asking them to make an announcement. If that didn't work I'd call the police. Actually... that reminds me that i wanted to put Animal Control's # in my phone! My friend had to make a scene yesterday to get some morons to not leave their dog in the car while they went in to Walmart - and this was in Vegas! It was over 100 degrees! They said the dog was fine - the windows were cracked - and just went in the store anyway. She went in too and yelled at them that it was against the law and they finally came back out!

  3. So frustrating, because now I bet those people are telling everyone about the "crazy person" in the store...and not convinced one bit. Poor doggies. Your idea about making an announcement is great. I'd tell them there is a dog in distress in the car. If the people cared at all, that should send them running back out.

Kelly certainly knows how to appreciate summer, between the sweet spot on the porch and enjoying the lake. She's my kind of lady.

Realizing how hot the asphalt can get in the summer is a newer idea for me. It's given me the excuse to walk Honey barefoot so I an keep track of the temps. And yes, the black asphalt gets unbearable.

Thanks for the shout out to my post.
