FitDog Friday- Snow!

We've got 10 inches of fresh, powdery snow up here in the northeast. My dogs love it! They get so frisky and excited bounding in the snow. But the temperatures are also below zero, so we have to be sure to keep them out for brief periods of time. Can you have a fit dog even in the snow? SURE!

Brooks: "Will you come out and play, Mom?"

This is Kelly when she was a puppy.

Now look at her with her winter coat!

Brooks always looked so happy, even posing in the snow.

On another site, someone asked for help staying fit when they couldn't go outside. And I was wondering what they were thinking trying to spend a whole winter indoors. Might as well take a lesson from our dogs and try to have fun with it, huh?

Surprisingly, however, Honey did not want to take a long walk today. Normally she loves the snow. But for the first time ever, she actually tried to pull me back to the house. I guess we all have bad days.

Hope you're enjoying being snowed in with the pups. Watch your back when you're shoveling. :)

  2. Ah, New York weather....I miss it....NOT! Hope you enjoy the snow - the dogs sure seem to!

  3. At least someone...or some enjoying all that snow! Stay warm!

  4. I guess it's not the snow, but the cold that's bothering Honey today. Brrrrrr. Kelly and Ike are loving it, but only for very short periods of time. p.s. luckily I have a strong adult son for the shoveling :)

I think the snow is great...such a good workout for all of us. When we can get out and enjoy it, that is! These temperatures are awful! It's been a crazy winter of ups and downs so far, that's for sure!

  8. I can't imagine being in such cold temperatures. It was 15 degrees in Seattle earlier this winter. That is extremely rare for us. It was SO cold. I had to really watch Chester and Gretel's feet when we went for a walk. It was dry so there was no ice but the concrete was literally freezing.

  9. How fun! My dogs also love playing in the snow. Great photos.

  10. We are hoping for snow here now... in the mountains! Thank you for hosting FitDog Friday.
