Hounds and Tabbies love Downton Abbey

Finally! At last! The PBS Masterpiece show, Downton Abbey returned! Ring the bells and launch the confetti! I've been waiting patiently (?) since the third season concluded last year. But what does this have to do with a pet blog? Well, believe it or not, I found a connection.

First, there are these clever paintings via etsy, entitled "Houndton Tabby" with cats and dogs as Downton Abbey characters. What pet do you think would be perfect for your favorite characters?
There's a very stately Dalmatian as Lady Grantham.

Sphynx cat as Dowager Countess
Clumber spaniel as Carson

Greyhound as Anna
Persian Cat as Mrs. Patmore

Then, there's the book, Downton Tabby by Chris Kelly.

The author was inspired to write the book when he realized his adopted cat, Oomi, reminded him of Lady Mary. And he felt he was like Carson. The book is a parody of Downton Abbey, substituting cats for British aristocrats. Memorable scenes from the show are comically re-created in the book.

Chris Kelly shares his home with Oomi, a golden retriever named Pete and a guinea pig named Skittles.

So if you love Downton Abbey, you don't have to rely solely on the few glimpses of the gorgeous yellow lab on the show!

Bwa ha ha! My husband loves Downton Abbey but since we don't have a tv, we have to wait for the DVDs to come out next year.

Personally, I only watch it for the puppy butt in the opening credits. :) So Houndton Abbey might be what I need.

They're very clever! My Mum keeps saying she's gonna watch this show, but so far hasn't got round to it!

I hope you're having a fun day,

Your pal Snoopy :)
