I hope and pray the volunteers counsel each potential adopter and follow through with calling references prior to adopting out. Also, I hope they are able to make a home visit before sending the pets to live with adopters. I know it is difficult to do home visits but I personally feel that it is very important to carefully place pets in the right home and to not adopt out just because the agency is in a hurry.
The reason why I say these things is b/c I saw a truck parked in front of Pet Smart in NH only a few weeks ago and the volunteers were not checking references but instead they were just accepting $475.00 for each dog. To me, the rescue agency was not a reputable one. It sounds like the rescue service you are referring to is a class act compared to the one that I saw a few weeks ago!The Teacher's Petshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01196076588030535094noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8636731278531757769.post-71078070315437819922010-09-05T23:24:49.448-04:002010-09-05T23:24:49.448-04:00Great interview, Peggy. Maybe we'll be lucky enough to glimpse the bus if it comes through the Northeast! I'm sure this group questions and counsels prospective adopters and I know they do require home visits, at least in some circumstances.

Such rules may prevent some good people from getting the pet they desire, but the rules are there for the pets. When my daughter and son-in-law tried to adopt a dog thru an agency that had tables set up at a PetSmart in Virginia, the group was very particular. They wouldn't let them adopt a dog because they both worked during the day. They ended up adopting a cat. Their hours are staggered so the cat is not left home alone very often.Peggy Frezonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11087038771857532951noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8636731278531757769.post-65613598530895749092010-09-03T19:38:24.686-04:002010-09-03T19:38:24.686-04:00How great that the adoption tour helps out so many...How great that the adoption tour helps out so many dogs and cats find forever homes!
