About Me

Pets- I'm a freelance writer specializing in pets. My first book is about dieting with my dog. I've written about my spaniel-mix Kelly, my childhood hound Happy, my dalmatian Schuyler, and other dogs for many magazines and anthologies. My regular column, Pawsitively Pets, is featured on Guideposts.com.

I've shared my home and my heart with dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, gerbils, hamsters, hermit crabs, turtles and fish.

Inspiration- I love to write stories of positive thinking, hope, and faith, and contribute regularly to Guideposts magazine, Angels on Earth magazine, and dozens of Chicken Soup for the Soul books. My work can also be seen in magazines such as Woman’s World, Teaching Tolerance, Pockets and others, and in books including The Ultimate Dog Lover, The Ultimate Mom, Miracles and Animals, Soul Matters, and David Jeremiah’s Grace Givers. Awards include the Guideposts writers contest in 2004 and The Children’s Writer personal story contest in 2007.

Reading I love reading books, and share that love by tutoring ESOL. I also write stories and expository articles used in academic tests for ETS, Pearson, West Ed, DRC and others.

Family- I grew up in the beautiful Green Mountain State of Vermont and studied journalism at Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communications. My husband and I now live in New York and have two adult children: our daughter is a web designer, and our son is an IT/Management major in college. Our spaniel-dachshund mix Kelly now fills our empty nest.

Writer's Groups include the League of Vermont Writers, East Greenbush Writers Group, and Marbleshapers.

Book- My first book is Dieting With my Dog (Hubble & Hattie) released August 2011.
